Relinquished

Relinquished is a profoundly striking series that displays the deep vulnerability of the human form set against the backdrop of abandoned, forgotten places. Once lively buildings, now deserted, stand as silent reminders of time's relentless passage. The images in this series provide a moving examination of solitude, portraying individuals in stark isolation, their presence intensified by the vast emptiness around them. The deterioration of the environment mirrors our own mortality, with crumbling walls and flaking paint symbolizing our inevitable decline. The series takes a minimalist approach, removing distractions to concentrate on the human figure, simplified by the gentle, diffused light that filters through shattered windows, emphasizing their fragility. The contrast between soft skin and a harsh environment emphasizes the emotional depth of the struggle for survival. The tactile interaction of textures—skin against brick, wood, and stone—further accentuates the bond between humanity and the decay that surrounds it.

New exhibition and book release on Jan. 24th, 2025. Preorder in the SHOP or pickup during the exhibition running until Feb. 22nd.

Welcome to my website where you can see a collection of my work including artistic, portraiture, and urbex photography. I hope you enjoy my work and find the beauty in decay. There is just something about abandoned locations that intrigue me. The stories they hold and questions it makes you ask in your mind. Your imagination can just run wild. I really enjoy the artistic look and the deep emotion the photo can evoke in the viewer.

Thanks to everyone who as supported my work on instagram and watched my style and me develop as an artist. I greatly appreciate all your kinds words and support more than you know!  <3

Sincerely,

Justin S.
